Along with Apple Time Flies Special Event, Apple launched 4 new products that will improve your productivity and health. Apple iPad Air (4th Gen), iPad (8th Gen), Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE was launched during the Apple Time Flies Special Event.
Apple iPad Air (4th Gen)
To start with, Apple iPad Air (4th Gen) has gotten the design upgrade that looks similar to the iPad Pro. This means that iPad Air (4th Gen) is lacking of the home button but this does not mean that it loses the TouchID. Apple has integrated the TouchID into the power button. Apple has upgraded it from Lightning port to USB C port.
iPad Air (4th Gen) is having a 10.9” Liquid Retina Display and stereo speakers when you are hold it in landscape. Having the same design as iPad Pro also means that you will be able to use the Apple Pencil in the same way as the iPad Pro. You are able to attach the Apple Pencil to the side magnetically for pairing, charging and holding it when you are not in use.
The biggest upgrade we see here is the latest A14 Bionic chip. This provides the iPad Air (4th Gen) an overall performance boost up to 40%. You will also be able to enjoy WiFi 6 connectivity and up to 10 hours of battery life. iPad Air (4th Gen) comes with two storage capacity for you to choose from, 64GB and 256GB. You will be able to get it in Malaysia soon with the price of RM 2599 and RM 3249 respectively. As for the Cellular version, the price for 64GB is RM 3149 and for 256GB is RM 3799.
Apple iPad (8th Gen)
Alongside with the launch of Apple iPad Air (4th Gen), Apple also launched the iPad (8th Gen). Apple is calling it the most advanced of the series, with a huge jump in performance among other things. iPad (8th Gen) did not receive the design upgrade as the iPad Air (4th Gen), instead it is having the similar design as its predecessors with some minor updates.
iPad (8th Gen) is having a 10.2” Retina Display and powering it is the A12 Bionic chip. Apple claims that it has over 40% faster CPU performance and graphics capability when compared it with its predecessors. iPad (8th Gen) is having the full support with compatible Magic Keyboards and also the first gen Pencil.
As for the battery life, Apple claims that iPad (8th Gen) is able to provide you up to 10 hours. Unlike iPad Air (4th Gen), iPad (8th Gen) is still sporting the Lightning port. Also included in the box is a 20W USB C power adapter and also USB C to Lightning cable. iPad (8th Gen) comes with two storage capacity for you to choose from, 32GB and 128GB. You will be able to get it in Malaysia soon with the price of RM 1499 and RM 1849 respectively. As for the Cellular version, the price for 32GB is RM 1999 and for 128GB is RM 2399.
Apple Watch Series 6
As the name of the event, “Time Flies” implicates, Apple Watch is part of the product lines that received an upgrade. The new Apple Watch Series 6 is the star of this event, with several new features available. Among the new features that available on the Apple Watch Series 6 is the new Blood Oxygen sensor which allows the Series 6 to measure oxygen saturation level of the user’s blood.
Apple Watch Series 6 is powered by the new S6 dual-core chip which Apple claims that it is up to 20% faster than its predecessor. You will still be able to get up to 18 hours of battery life and you are able to obtain full charge just under 1.5 hours. Apple also claimed that Series 6’s Always-On Retina Display is 2.5 times brighter than the Series 5 when the watch is in the wrist-down state. Series 6 also equipped with the U1 Ultra-Wideband chip and antennas for short-range wireless location capabilities such as digital car keys.
Apple Watch Series 6 will be available in Malaysia soon with two sizes, 40mm and 44mm. The aluminium variant of Series 6 comes in GPS version and Cellular version. The 40mm GPS variant starts at RM 1749 while Cellular variant starts at RM 2199. The 44mm GPS variant starts at RM 1899 while Cellular variant starts at RM 2349. As for stainless steel body variant, Cellular capability is available as standard. The 40mm model starts at RM 2999 while the 44mm model starts at RM 3249.
Apple Watch SE
Other than Watch Series 6, Apple also launched the Watch SE which greatly resemble its Series 6 sibling. To start with, Watch SE does not come with Always-On Retina Display and U1 Ultra-Wideband chip. It is also missing the blood oxygen and ECG sensors that can be found at Watch Series 6. Apple Watch SE is powered by S5 dual-core chip which is powering the older Series 5.
Apple Watch SE only comes in aluminium case with 40mm and 44mm. The 40mm GPS variant starts at RM 1199 while the Cellular variant starts at RM 1449. The 44mm GPS variant starts at RM 1349 while the Cellular variant starts at RM 1599. Apple Watch SE will be available in Malaysia soon.
